On May 29, 2006, National Bio Energy Chifeng Biomass Power Plant Project gained approval from Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Development and Reform Commission (Nei-Fa-Gai-Neng-Yuan [2006] File No. 939).

The project pursues heat and power generation through direct burning of agricultural and forestry wastes and is consistent with the State¡¯s policies for developing recyclable economy and saving energy, and with the energy development plan of the region for the ¡°Eleventh Five-year Period¡±. The project is to build two 25000KW extraction condensing heat supply units associated with two 130t/h vibrating grate high-temperature high-pressure boilers. Total investment is estimated to be RMB£¤490million and the project will consume 327000t agricultural and forestry wastes per annum once completed.
